The destination for today's adventure is Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. However, along the way do not forget to stop at strategic spots to view Mount Ebenezer and Mount Conner. This afternoon, set aside some time at the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to learn about the Aboriginal custodians of the land. Then travel to Uluru/Ayers Rock's sunset viewing area which offers a dazzling view of the sun set and the kaleidoscopic colours of Uluru - skies bathed in glorious hues of red, ochre and purple.
(The Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park entry fee is A$25 per adult and children under 15 years are not required to pay. The ticket is valid for 3 consecutive days)

Day 04 Ayers Rock
Rise and shine early to watch the magnificent desert sunrise as it casts its first rays over Uluru/Ayers Rock, then spend time strolling leisurely along Mala Walk and Kantju Gorge. Or you can opt for a three to four hour complete loop walk around the 9.8 kilometre monolith. Thereafter, explore Kata Tjuta/Olgas, 48km away, wander through the Walpa Gorge or the Valley of the Winds and walk through the domes to appreciate the beauty of the landscape in its truest form. However, the walking path is rocky and requires one to have a good level of fitness at the Valley.
Tonight, enjoy the Sounds of Silence under the star-spangled sky of the Outback and be mesmerised by an astronomer who will unlock the ancient secrets that belie the Universe. Another popular dining option is the Outback BBQ, a do-it-yourself BBQ with traditional Aussie charm.

Depart from Alice Springs and travel to Kings Canyon. Along the way, pause to view the magnificent view of Mount Ebenezer. In the afternoon, explore Kings Canyon - a mammoth ravine rich in fauna and flora, rock pools, sand plains and gullies. The best way to experience Kings Canyon is on the three-hour rim walk over the top of the Canyon. The panoramic views of the towering orange walls are nothing less than spectacular from above. The walk also takes in the domed rock formation of the 'Lost City', and then descends into a lushly vegetated valley into the 'Garden of Eden'. Travel though the West MacDonnell Ranges to Glen Helen. There are many natural attractions, stopping for scenic breaks at Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole and Ormiston Gorge. Stay the night at Glen Helen Homestead for a true outback experience.

Today is your initiation to the Mereenie Loop - a rugged drive through the desert landscape to Kings Canyon in the Watarrka National Park. There are three main stops on this leg. The first is Redbank Gorge; a deep narrow gorge with freezing water all year round, best navigated on an airbed. Carry on to the Tnorala Conservation Reserve, also known as Gosse Bluff, a massive crater that is a whooping five kilometres in diameter from a comet impact 142 million years ago. The site is best appreciated from the air, but you'll get a bird's eye view from the Tyler's Pass lookout. Tonight, enjoy the haunting and enchanting Sounds of Firelight dinner under the stars.
